The Essex 73's shaded the last place Wallaceburg Thunderhawks 2-1 in the PJHL Tuesday night.
Preston Corp and Tyler Beneteau scored second period goals for the 73's, who out shot the visiting Thunderhawks 40-16.
Braiden Shaw was solid in goal for (1-9) Wallaceburg making 38 saves, while Jax D'Hondt needed to make just 15 saves to record the win for the 73's.
Essex currently sits in third place in the Stobbs Division, with a record of (6-3) good enough for 12 points, while the basement-dwelling Thunderhawks have only two points all season.
Myles Fraser had the lone Hawks goal on a third period power play.
On Wednesday night, the Amherstburg Admirals play the Shark in Wheatley.
