The hometown Essex 73's shutout Petrolia 6-0 in the Provincial Junior Hockey League on Tuesday night.
The game was never in doubt as the 73's lead 3-0 after the first period and also outshot the Flyers 21-7 in the first frame.
Curtis Jackson, Trevor Klee, and Conor Dembinski scored in the opening period Quinn Fazekas scored the only second period goal, and Jacob Cruickshank and Michael Ruttinger tallied in the third.
Goalie Connor Meyerink made 26 saves to earn the shutout, for the 73's who will play Wednesday night in Wheatley.
Petrolia goaltender, Chaska Thiel was busy, making 52 saves as the Flyers were outshot, 58-26.
One other Wednesday night game has the Lakeshore Canadiens heading to Mooretown to face the Flags.
The Canadiens are off to a 4-0 start while the first place Flags are 5-0.
