600 homes in Amherstburg are a little safer thanks to the Amherstburg Rotary Club.
It donated over 600 carbon monoxide alarms, purchased through the profits at Ribfest, to the Amherstburg Fire Department and Amherstburg Community Services.
Today, officials at Amherstburg fire visited homes to install the devices.
Carbon monoxide is a toxic and odourless gas that can be deadly.
A new law in October 2014 requires every home with a fuel burning appliance, fireplace or attached garage have a working carbon monoxide alarm.
Amherstburg Fire Chief Bruce Montone says the department is grateful to Amherstburg Rotary as the "partnership will assist in reaching out to residents in the community who are vulnerable and require carbon monoxide alarms."
