Time to wine down!

The Ciociaro Club of Windsor is hosting their 4th annual Wine Festival on Saturday evening.

This year’s festival will showcase wines from Essex County to support local during financially challenging times due to tariffs imposed on Canadian goods.

The wines will be paired with foods selected specifically to complement and enhance the wine-tasting experience.

Six wine booths will feature local wineries with representatives on hand to answer questions, share information about their products and offer recommendations.

The Ciao Band will also provide live entertainment throughout the evening.

Ciociaro Club President Anna Vozza says celebrating local is important.

“The event is about celebrating what we have right here in our own backyard. We’re going to be showcasing six local wineries from southwestern Ontario and giving people an opportunity to discover some of the incredible local wines, and supporting Canadian and homegrown businesses.”

She says there’s a range of food options.

“It’s going to be delicious. Between our manager and our chef, we have a brilliant cuisine to be paired with each wine.”

Vozza says it’s a well-loved festival.

“I’m proud of what we can host, we’re celebrating our Italian hospitality and culture, but we’re supporting the wineries and we’re creating traditions. So we invite everybody to come out, bring your family and friends, and just come out for a great night... relax, enjoy the food, and enjoy great wine.”

The festival will run from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m.

Wine will be sold by the glass at the booths.

Some of the food being offered includes gnocchi; arancini; beef sandwiches; pizza and more.

Net proceeds from the event will support cultural and sporting programs at the Ciociaro Club, including children’s summer camps, soccer sponsorships, folk groups and Italian School activities.
