The westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent have re-opened after two separate multi-vehicle crashes.
The first one happened in the eastbound lanes, in Tilbury, near County Rd. 42 around 3:30pm — injuries are unknown.
The second one took place around 5:30pm near Dillon Rd., when a westbound tractor trailer collided with a pick-up truck causing a five-vehicle chain reaction crash. Police say two people have been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The OPP re-opened the westbound lanes just before 4:00am Monday.
