United States Customs and Border Protection intercepted nearly $400,000 in electronics and clothing at the Fort Street Cargo Facility in Detroit.
The reason for the seizure; the products were fakes. According to a release, officials marked a shipment from China for "enhanced inspection" Monday.
An estimated $325,000 in brand name Bluetooth products, $59,000 in smart bands, $4,000 worth of speakers and $10,000 worth of Star Wars hats were included in the shipment.
Customs inspectors became suspicious when the, "branding and overall quality of the articles were not consistent with genuine products" and they discovered the electronics were not registered with Bluetooth.
The agency says it may issue fines to those who violated intellectual property rights and refer cases to government agencies for criminal investigation where appropriate.
