The Windsor International Black Film Festival (WIBFF) returns to Windsor for its third annual edition.

The WIBFF remains committed to building bridges between Africa and the global Black community. The festival serves as a meeting point for filmmakers, actors, and producers among Black communities worldwide to foster collaboration, innovation, and more.

The festival this year will also include the Nollywood Micro Section - The Actors Marketplace as a featured component which is an international platform to showcase the talents, creativity, and professional achievements of Nigerian actors before a global audience.

The festival includes 64 films with the theme of Legacy and Liberation. Films will be shown at the Arts Council Windsor & Region, the Black Creative Economy Symposium at Arts Council Windsor & Region, and Gala Night with the Humanitarian Awards at Caesars Windsor.

Festival President, Dr. Queen Eghujovbo, says it’s going to be a great event.

“It is very special because it’s amplifying the Black voice, the indie film makers, and also the beautiful City of Windsor that will be amplified for the world to come and see the beauty of our city.”

She says there’s something for everyone.

“We have films from comedy, to dramas, to fiction, to AI, and this year we have a horror film that will be shown... the first year that we have a horror genre.”

Eghujovbo says she hopes the community supports the event, as she just lost her husband who was a big part of keeping this festival going.

“So any finances that was involved, he was the one paying for it. Then we started getting a little help here and there with the federal government, but before then, it was all out of his pocket.”

The festival will run from August 13 to August 16.
