The Ontario Provincial Police have concluded and released the results from their 2023 OPP Festive RIDE campaign.
This year's campaign ran from Nov. 16, 2023, to Jan. 1, 2024.
Across West Region, OPP officers conducted 2446 RIDE events, as a result 353 Impaired Driving related charges, and 55 Warn-Range suspensions issued.
During the campaign, the public saw an increased OPP presence on Essex County roads and highways as officers conducted a number of RIDE initiatives across the County.
During the Festive RIDE campaign, over 247 checkpoints were set up across Essex County with the following results:
Although the Festive RIDE campaign has concluded, Essex County OPP says it remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off the roads through enforcement and public education.
Motorists can continue to expect to see officers patrolling area roads, setting up RIDE programs, and stopping drivers that take chances with safety, all year.
