A "proposed" $2.375-million settlement has been reached in connection with watered-down chemotherapy treatments given to cancer patients, including 290 in Windsor-Essex.
It is alleged from February 2012 to April 2013, 1200 patients in Ontario and New Brunswick received lower than intended dosages of chemotherapy drugs.
The settlement has been reached by all parties but needs court approval set for January 10th.
The class action lawsuit alleges negligence against Mezentco Solutions Inc also known as Marchese Hospital Solutions.
The settlement represents a resolution and the defendants and hospitals do not admit any wrongdoing or liability in connection with the class action.
Back in 2013, a report prepared for the Ontario government found no evidence of any malicious or deliberate attempted to dilute drugs.
The review came after it was found that Marchese Hospital Solutions provided diluted drug and saline mixtures for cancer patients. The company maintains it prepared the drugs the way it was asked to under its contracts.
