Canada Border Services Agency has seized $13.8-million in illicit tobacco and nicotine products during the month of August.
CBSA says the majority involved significant quantities in commercial shipments from the United States.
At the Ambassador Bridge, officers confiscated 1.7-million cigarettes valued at $333,000.
Border services officers also seized 30,000 kilograms of loose-leaf tobacco at the Blue Water Bridge along with nearly 2,800 kg’s of nicotine pouches with a total estimated value of $8.5-million.
Since January 1st, CBSA says officers in the Southern Ontario Region have seized more than $52.2 million in tobacco and nicotine products.
