The future is super bright for the Windsor Lancers Women's Hockey team.
This from Head Coach Deanna Iwanicka.
Iwanicka announced her recruiting class for the 2019-20 season.
She says 11 players have committed to the program including Windsor Wildcats graduate Maggie DeWolf-Russ and Megan Bates from the Bluewater Hawks.
An investigation was launched by the university and the school determined there was not enough evidence to prove the allegations.
Iwanicka says she's satisfied as one can be following the investigation.
"I think the truth comes out in the end and for me I really just think it's about what's next and where we're going and re-enforcing the confidence the players that are here do have," says Iwanicka. "The support was tremendous. The positives did come out of it at the end of the day were great and so that's what we're really trying to build off of.
Krystin Lawrence is a former Lancers player who has accused the coach.
She tells CTV Windsor, the university's investigation took only two months and her fight is far from over.
"We're just going to keep fighting and proving that our mental health is important," says Lawrence. "It's very big in today's generation and today's society and everybody's trying to advocate for it especially Bell Let's Talk that's a very big one, a very popular one that people like to take part of and show that they're with mental health and they want to help and support."
Iwanicka says during her discussions with the recruits, questions were asked.
"They want to know who they're playing for and they want to know what it's going to be like to play for that person so no different than we normally would," says Iwanicka. "We're going to talk about my coaching philosophy is, we're going to take about what direction the team is going, the things that we're built around. For us really, for me in particular, we want good people and we want you to be a good time and we're going to build that team around good people."
