A second parklet patio has opened in downtown Windsor — this time on Pelissier Street at University Avenue.
Three restaurants opened their parklet on Pitt Street East near Ouellette earlier this month, building a deck over existing parking spaces to create additional outdoor seating.
Craftheads Brewery Owner Bryan Datoc says he's sharing a similar set up on Pelissier with two of his neighbours — Terra Cotta Pizzeria and Queen Ashtar Middle Eastern Cuisine.
Datoc is grateful the city and the Downtown Business Improvement Association supported the outdoor space during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The whole patio structure just changes the vibe of Pelissier Street," he says.
All three were providing take out during the pandemic, but Datoc says none of them had an existing patio.
"We were actually fortunate enough to kind of stay open during this past four months but it's kind of a change of pace and we're adjusting with times," added Datoc.
He says they're committed to following the rules to show the set-up can continue after the pandemic ends.
"We're going to follow them so that way we can this feasible for years to come," he says.
Datoc says the parklet was completed last week and seats 86 people.
The parklet has to be taken down by Nov. 1.
