Police are asking for the public's help in the wake of a suspected homicide in west-Windsor.
Autumn Taggart, also known as Maya Madolyn, has been identified as the victim in an investigation that began on Sunday June 10. Windsor Police Services responded to a report of a "sudden death" at an apartment building on the corner of University Ave. W. and McKay Ave around 8:00pm.
Investigators also revealed the 31-year-old victim's nine-year-old son was in the apartment at the time of the murder. Sergeant Steve Betteridge says police are identifying Taggart in the hopes someone will come forward with more information.
"What we're looking for is to generate information, to get people talking," he says. "Somebody knows something out there."
A mobile command unit will be stationed near the crime scene Saturday from 10am to 6pm in an effort to gather information from people who may not follow traditional media sources — officers will also be canvassing the neighbourhood again.
"Sometimes the slightest bit of information is something an investigator needs to crack a case wide open. The entire goal is to get people talking," Betteridge says. "We're confident that somebody has some information out there, we want to keep this very active homicide case in the public eye."
Police will be providing further updates at a press conference around 12pm Saturday — tune into AM800 News for more as it happens.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
