The province's Special Investigation Unit is investigating after Windsor police shot and killed a 33-year-old man downtown.
It happened around 8am just outside the McDonald's in the alley on Dufferin Ave. south of Wyandotte St.
A witness reports that a man was carrying a butcher block with some knives in it and was told by police to stop.
He didn't and instead pulled out a knife, moving to attack one of the officers.
The witness was crying and trembling and tells AM800 News that's when the man was tasered by the officer but that didn't work and the man was shot by another officer.
"Police told him to stop and he didn't," she says. "He took out a knife from the butcher block and went to attack the officers. They pulled out their tasers and that didn't work so the other officer shot him."
This witness says the shooting happened 20 ft. away from her.
"It scared the shit out of me. I'm sorry for swearing but its true. All I'm seeing is it just replaying in my mind."
