Amherstburg town council has said no to a bylaw amendment for a local dog kennel operator.
Aladdin Khalifa was requesting a minor variance for his Elite K9K dog kennel on Concession 6 North.
The variance would have waived the 2000 foot set back from his neighbours property but council turned down his request.
Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says the town's bylaw and building departments have been in touch with the operator.
"I guess the simple answer regarding the kennel is that the rezoning was denied by council and I guess that means any or all business related to it on the property should cease," says DiCarlo.

As heard on AM800 news last month, neighbours of the kennel are upset the operation continues to expand without any permits from the town.
They're upset over the lack of permits, noise, drainage and the breeds of dogs housed at the kennel.
The town has stepped in and Khalifa has agreed to put a halt to business until proper zoning and permits are in place.
He has met with town staff and representatives from the Essex Region Conservation Authority.
Khalifa has applied to the town to add a 7,300-square-foot indoor training facility to the property as well.
There are 24 dogs at the site.
On its Facebook page, Elite K9K is described as "The ultimate destination for all your dog needs" including breeding, training, boarding and food.
