The Optimist Club of LaSalle, who organizes free and low cost events for kids in the LaSalle area like a kite day, and breakfast with Santa. Are in need for new members to help keep their events running. They are looking for members of the community and/or parents in the LaSalle area who are interested in some light volunteering to join organization. On May 27th Help D-Feat Breast Cancer, at Brightside Tanning Inc, On The Dark Side Inc, Sunsetters Premier Tanning and Oasis, all participating Tanning Salons and each of their locations. These Tanning Salons are offering 10% off to all clients, and will donate 10% of sales from that day to the Dragon Boats for The Cure.
On May 28th Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society presents at Massey Secondary School and would like to invite you to attend a Foster/Adoptive Parent information session from 6pm till 8pm. RSVP to attend or request further information call 519-252-1171.
On May 31st the Canadian Cancer Society is hosting Wipeout Cancer, a fundraiser with all proceeds to Relay for Life. The fundraiser takes place at Windsor Sportsman Club, 2401 Dougall Avenue from 5pm till 8pm, with dinner at six. The dinner includes pasta, salad, roll, coffee and tea. Adults are $15, kids 10 and under are $7 and kids 3 and under are free. Entertainment by Bill’s Beats DJ Service. Door prizes Galore including a chance to win a BBQ, Games, and Cash Bar.
On May 31st from 8am till 6pm and June 1st from 8am till 3pm a Garage Sale takes place at 72 Arthur Avenue in Essex, turn left at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar and look for the balloons. Furniture, books, clothing, jewelry and much more.
On May 31st come out and support Gary's Gang!! Proceeds to Southshore Cancer Relay for Life. From 4:30pm till 6:30pm at the K of C Hall in Amherstburg, 190 Richmond Street.
On May 31st OLOG First Annual Charity Bash takes place at 6pm at the Caboto Club. Pasta dinner at 7pm, live music, silent auction and bake sale. On May 31st Advocis Windsor is hosting the 37th Annual Poor Boy Luncheon with Tunnel BBQ's Famous Pulled Pork Sandwich with Coleslaw from 11am to 3pm at the Giovani Caboto Club, 2175 Parent Avenue. All proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Help participate in this great cause all while enjoying delicious food and drinks! Admission is $7 in advance or $8 at the door. On May 31st The Essex County Exchange Club is having a smoked pork BBQ at the Harrow Fair Board Building. Tickets are $20 per person and $10 kids under 12. On May 31st, OLOG Home for Mothers is hosting a fundraiser at The Caboto Club in Windsor at 6pm to raise money to open a non-profit home in Windsor that supports pregnant women who have no other place to go. The event features a pasta dinner, silent auction and live music by local artists. On June 1st an Annual Charity BBQ and Yard Sale for Autism is being held at 8am at 1 William Street in Cottam. 10 year old Taylor Blais started this annual event to show support for her brother Tyler and other affected by Autism. Hot Dogs, Pop, Misc Yard Sale items, Raffle Tickets and Gift Cards available for purchase. Proceeds are donated to ErinoakKids Foundation. This event coincides with Cottam’s Annual Community Yard Sale Event.
On June 1st The Rotary Club of Lasalle Centennial and the Sandwich Secondary School Parent Council are hosting a Walk-a-thon, at 12:30pm, at Sandwich Secondary School. The entire student body, LaSalle Centennial Rotary Club Members and friends, as well as teachers walk for approximately 1 hour, then partake in a BBQ afterwards. All of the students are walking and raising funds to support student bursaries and scholarships to benefit Sandwich Secondary School students, as well as supporting local community projects of the LaSalle Centennial Rotary Club.
On June 1st and June 2nd the Canadian- Anglo Club and Cystic Fibrosis Canada launches its registration for Human Foosball Tournament. This event launches Windsor’s only human foosball game. Event takes place at the Canadian-Anglo Club, 1221 Lauzon Road at 11am. Teams of 8 are encouraged to come together and play. Registration is $120 per team. On June 2nd an Open House Double Anniversary Celebration for the Dr. S.F.Millen School, 50 years and the Woodslee Friendship Club. 30 years celebration taking place at the Millen Community Centre, 1925 South Middle Road, South Woodslee from 1pm till 4pm. On June 2nd at 6:30pm Leamington District Secondary School Concert Band and Choir is having a Two Creeks Summer Concert Series at Two Creeks Conservation Area on Chatham Kent Road 1 just outside town of Wheatley. Admission, Hat is passed for donations.

On June 9th a fundraiser event to benefit local Cancer patients is being held at Miss Lizzy’s Tea, Roma Club Pavilion at 19 Seacliff Drive in Leamington at 2pm. Doors open at 1:30pm. On September 14th The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul hosts their 7th Annual Subway Charity Golf Classic held at Rochester Place Golf Club. AM 800 is also proud to support this annual event!
